Es un #QNAP TS-212 del que he encontrado manuales y páginas web que explican muchas cosas excepto las importantes como, por ejemplo, la forma de abrir la carcasa. Solventado esto por otras vías lo he limpiado y lo he puesto en marcha conectándolo a mi red casera.
Asumo que debe tener dirección IP estática y un rango de red distinto porque a mi servidor DCHP no le llega nada de él. Con este disgusto intento reiniciarlo para que se olvide de esos parámetros y pida que le guíen a quien dirige la red en realidad, un router de la marca Buffalo con OpenWRT.
Me dicen en todas partes que hay que pulsar el botón de reinicio tres segundos para un reinicio básico y diez para uno menos básico. Que el trasto me diría con un pitido que lo había entendido. El botón de reinicio en realidad está dentro y hay que "pulsarlo" con un alambre fino que tengo siempre en la caja de herramientas porque esas cosas ya las he vivido. Y nada. Que metas el alambre y que aprietes no te lleva a ninguna parte y el trasto sigue a su bola.
He mirado ni se sabe la de páginas web indicando en inglés que el botón de reset no funciona. Y que si quieres arroz Catalina, que lo pulses y ya. Y eso en páginas del fabricante, ojo.
Pues después de bajar páginas y páginas -con el mismo contenido en inglés traducido por las bravas al castellano- me encuentro una, en la web del fabricante que dice más o menos lo siguiente:
"En el panel de control, sección Hardware, existe una opción que reza: 'Enable configuration reset switch' y si está activa el botón de reinicio no funcionará de ninguna manera."
Así que es posible que esa opción esté marcada y no puedo acceder al panel de control a través de la red pero tampoco reiniciarlo con el alambre. Muy bien. Pues tendré que conectarlo directamente a un portátil e intentar averiguar en qué subred está funcionando.
Y luego acordarme de la contraseña de administración, que esa es otra, porque si no puedo entrar en el panel web tampoco podré desmarcar la famosa opción y, por tanto, reiniciarlo con el alambre.
Verás tú qué mal vamos a terminar.

I went with a T640, two Intel Xeon Gold 6248R, 192GB ram, 10gbit sfp+ networking, HBA330 and redundant 1100W PSUs.
It's not the newest hardware out there, but the spare parts are cheap enough and it has more than enough power for my needs.
Jails, VMs, Storage (if there is need for more than 8x3.5 HDDs, I'll go JBOD).
I'll update as soon as I have put everything together and moved over all VMs, storage and jails. It'll be great to free up one Lenovo m75q Gen5, one Lenovo 720q and to decommission the "old" N100 32GB RAM NAS hardware (a friend will most likely take it).
Finally managed to install another pair of rack-mounted Terramaster NASes. Rock solid with plain #debian. Here we go with almost 500 TB of distributed storage.

@jimsalter My relationship with #Minisforum has hit a new low.
After a week and a useless back and forth, I get an after sale response to the chain from Andy, who FIRST tells me I can ship them the defective SSD for replacement.
(Which I don't need to tell you SUCKS. That's a dead #NAS for weeks or however long the round trip takes).
Then, this morning I get ANOTHER E-mail from Andy saying oh hey if I leave a 5 star review on Amazon they'll just ship me a new drive.
That seems like stinky herring to me, dunno about you.
