I WANT
* an RSS reader that
* syncs between mobile and desktop (app, firefox extension, or website is fine)
SO THAT I can read my favorite blogs without having to do a bunch of manual syncing / updating across my devices.
Acceptance critera:
* must be FOSS
* reasonably stable / maintained
* can be self-hosted
Does anything like this exist? There's a million RSS readers out there, but they either seem to be paid or don't offer any kind of sync functionality. Or is there a workaround that accomplishes the same thing, e.g., RSS to email service?

Overall, I'm really happy with the experience. It took some effort and cost some money to get things set up, but everything works about as well as the Google equivalents and the agency feels great.
In particular, I can't imagine using the web these days without uBlock Origin. Every time I see someone else's web experience I just want to say "you live like this?"
I still haven't moved away from YouTube / YouTube Music. At this point, I'm not sure I will. I know there's some functional pirate utilities, but my fam uses the subscription and I'm not super interested in trying to maintain a whole media center. Open to suggestions, tho.

This evening I fixed something that had been annoying me about the #facerecognition app UI in #Nextcloud with a bit of #javascript.
A race condition where slower queries would overwrite newer queries for an autocomplete drop-down, a condition more likely to happen the more names and images you have in your instance.
🇨🇦Synology now hosting my Nextcloud instance out of our basement. Custom sub-domain, DDNS, php-fpm, Memcache and 7TB of storage. Backed up to AWS Glacier. Will try to do a write up on how this week.

Habe mich schon gewundert warum meine Kunden so ruhig sind, aber die Mitarbeiter beschweren sich das wir #Nextcloud und #Linux nutzen.
Took a good amount of effort in tweaking and correcting but I now have #Nextcloud #facerecognition working well on my personal server. Getting it to tell my kids apart (especially since they all have lots of baby pictures) was by far the hardest part.
Am I taking crazy pills, or is #nextcloud AIO trying to make things too easy? Exposing it straight to the internet is the default setup, and if you dont want that you have to work around it? IDK feels pretty uncomfortable...
So will they be made available to watch on Peertube, or at least streamed on Owncast, or will you be pushing people to a centralized, proprietary, privacy invasive, advertising platform as usual?

Hmm, some #nextcloud question - I've recently upgraded from v27 to v29 on our self hosted server and plain text editor is now broken - so far so expected.
But how do I enable the "text app" to be usable within the "files" app? At the moment, "text" works only as an editor for "notes" but under "files" I can only download the markdown file. The context menu offers a number of items but not editing.
Anyone with some clue while my search-fu is not the strongest ATM. #followerpower
FYI - If you're using the #facedetection app for #Nextcloud and running it on #Fedora #Linux, you'll need to recompile the PHP module for #dlib when you upgrade to Fedora 40.
Tengo la grabación de la última actuación, es como giga y medio, y me gustaría subirla al área de socios para que tengan acceso a ella bajo las reglas de Nextcloud y. al mismo tiempo, publicarla en el blog de manera que se pueda ver con el visor de Wordpress. Todo eso sin que tenga que duplicar el espacio ocupado.
Pues no, el único complemento que he visto es uno de pago con mucha fanfarria en la página web que promete demasiadas cosas pero que siendo de pago como que no. Y no es por el dinero, es por la dependencia que le cargo a la asociación sin necesidad alguna.
He mirado también #webdav y otros medios para acceder desde Wordpress hacia Nextcloud pero nada, que tampoco hay nada. Algunos usuarios han tenido el mismo problema que yo en 2016 así que no sé si siguen vivos y si lo han resuelto porque nadie les contestó.
A ver cómo me las apaño. Algo rudimentario seguro.
@YesIKnowIT many people run their home services in raspis. I used to run my own RSS reader, #nextcloud and static gallery on a 1GHz, 4GiB RAM micro machine (plus firewall and WiFi AP, but those are very lightweight; that machine still does those). They could as easily have run on a raspi.
From a personal tech perspective, one of the best decisions I ever made for myself was setting up a #Nextcloud server to store my family pictures a decade ago. It's been absolutely rewarding to be in control of my own data, having data backups I can rely on, and a way to securely share files/media with others - all on my own replaceable/upgradable devices!
@vwbusguy I can't find recommended specs for #Nextcloud. I did see something about SD cards not being recommended for storage, which I totally understand. My current Pi server uses a USB flash drive for storage, but I'm not against using a regular USB drive (spinning or SSD).
Moving off #synology and looking for a file sync system (like the google drive client). I care about windows, a bit of iOS,not storing rarely accessed files locally, and having version history. I suppose I need either #owncloud or #nextcloud? Which one? Or something else?

Y todo esto lo cuento porque he visto el anuncio del podcast "Tetas libres" de la Revista Asamblea Digital. Mirando la página veo que el complemento para Firefox Copy RSS Button (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/copy-rss-button/) me muestra todos los feeds de la misma, y es muy fácil copiarlos para subscribirse.
