Dear comite:

STOP ICE FROM COMING TO EUROPE!

WE DON'T WANT USA MURDERERS TO COME TO THE EU!

Sports are sports, sports aren't war!

No ICE here, only ice for scating and for icecream

~We, Europeans, do not let murderers come here to protect what or who ever during the Olympics!
~EU must forbid a foreign police army to come here, we live by our own values of equality, respect, human rights, loyalty, solidarity, safety, etc
~Italy must forbid them from coming
~Isn't Italy capable to offer protection during the games?
If that is true then Italy must be forbidden to organise any competition in the future, no football, no Giro, no wintersports, nothing
~Olympic Committee should forbid them from coming and let sports be sports. If necessairy than Vance&co must not come, they have a choice

Ukraine remains sovereign, with no regional capitals lost since 2022. Despite heavy russian losses, the war drags on.

Ukraine seeks just peace through diplomacy but will defend itself and urges stronger global pressure on russia to end the aggression.

"After Bashar al-Assad’s overthrow in Syria, Maduro’s fall in Venezuela represents a serious blow to Russia’s global ambitions, and this is good news for Europe. However, the fall of a regime, illegitimate as it may be, through an illegal military attack by a foreign country and the establishment of a quasi-colonial protectorate constitutes a violation of the most basic norms of sovereignty and independence on which European security is built. It is Russia’s dream for Europe.

True, Putin does not need Trump’s free pass to pursue such a vision. He has done so in Ukraine, as well as in Georgia and Moldova, well before Trump toppled Maduro. But there is no doubt that Trump’s green-lighting of spheres of influence – not just in words but in action – embodies the law of the jungle so dear to dictators such as Putin. For Europeans to silently condone such a vision is not just unethical. It is plain stupid."

I read the serious discussions about ‘who eavesdropped on Ushakov and Dmitriev’ and can’t help but chuckle to myself.

All these deliberations about whether it was the NSA or GCHQ are based on the assumption that Ushakov had to use a secure means of communication. Had to… because why exactly?

Because politicians are renowned for their unwavering commitment to adhering to rules, including #OPSEC? But they are not.

Let us recall the US and European leaders who, in #Ukraine Kyiv in 2013, happily chatted on the phone and were recorded (‘Nuland–Pyatt call’).

Shortly afterwards, Sergei Glazyev from the #Russia presidential administration did the same and was recorded… by the new SBU (‘Glazyev tapes’, much less well-known but much more devastating).

In summary, if one can generalise the concept of high-level politics in #infosec matters, it is that those in power do not apply the rules to themselves and do not learn from their mistakes precisely because they are in power.

In short, Hanlon’s razor applies.

"Dmitriev was pushing a plan for U.S. companies to tap the roughly $300 billion of Russian central bank assets, frozen in Europe, for U.S.-Russian investment projects and a U.S.-led reconstruction of Ukraine. U.S. and Russian companies could join to exploit the vast mineral wealth in the Arctic. There were no limits to what two longtime adversaries could achieve, Dmitriev had argued for months: Their rival space industries, which raced one another during the Cold War, could even pursue a joint mission to Mars with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

For the Kremlin, the Miami talks were the culmination of a strategy, hatched before Trump’s inauguration, to bypass the traditional U.S. national security apparatus and convince the administration to view Russia not as a military threat but as a land of bountiful opportunity, according to Western security officials. By dangling multibillion-dollar rare-earth and energy deals, Moscow could reshape the economic map of Europe—while driving a wedge between America and its traditional allies.
Dmitriev, a Goldman Sachs alumnus, had found receptive partners in Witkoff—Trump’s longtime golfing partner—and Kushner, whose investment fund, Affinity Partners, drew billion-dollar investments from the Arab monarchies whose conflict with Israel he had helped mediate.
(...)
“Russia has so many vast resources, vast expanses of land,” Witkoff told (...) describing at length his hopes that Russia, Ukraine and America would all become business partners. “If we do all that, and everybody’s prospering and they’re all a part of it, and there’s upside for everybody, that’s going to naturally be a bulwark against future conflicts there. Because everybody’s thriving.”

When a version of the 28-point plan leaked earlier this month, it drew immediate protests. Leaders in Europe and Ukraine complained it reflected mostly Russian talking points and bulldozed through nearly all of Kyiv’s red lines."

Our resolve comes from the fact that we know that this is not only about Ukrainian security, it is also about the wider security of Europe.
Ukraine has continuously shown that it is serious about peace. We commend President Zelenskyy for his efforts to steer Ukraine through these very challenging times. Ukraine remains ready to negotiate and, as stated by President Zelenskyy, is working on the document prepared by the US. Russia has so far not committed to a ceasefire or any steps leading to peace. Instead, Russia continues its brutal attacks against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
Solutions that respect Ukraine's sovereignty and that will bring Ukraine and Europe greater security and stability have our full support.
We will continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen Europe's defence to deter further Russian aggression. As long as Russia continues its war against Ukraine, we will also support strengthening sanctions and wider economic measures.
Finally, to the Ukrainian people: Your resolve, determination and courage has been truly admirable from the outset of the war. We want you to know that you are not alone and can count on our support.

So I grew up next to and this is, well, TERRIFYING.

A story for y’all: I’m from a city called Zhytomyr, 2 hours west of Kyiv in the North of . We were downwind of the Chernobyl power plant when the 1986 disaster happened.

I wasn’t born for another 12 years, but my childhood was filled with stories and the aftermath of it all. Things like:

- My grandmother worked as a head doctor in a hospital and rehabilitation facility exclusively for children of Chernobyl victims to treat the extremely high prevalence of Tuberculosis and other severe health complications. (To specify: these were SECOND GENERATION of exposure).

- A lot of the kids in that facility were orphans, because their parents died young from health problems.

- My uncle’s wife was born in Pripyat. She was 1 year old when the disaster happened. Her parents were told to evacuate while given no information about what happened. They had to pack up their things and rush out to an unfamiliar city with their baby, never to see the rest of their belongings, apartment, or hometown again.

- When I was a kid, it became so common to see weirdly mutated animals and insects that even 2-3 year olds would make jokes about “Chernobyl mosquitos” and I wouldn’t even flinch seeing occasional giant bugs, dark frogs, weird-looking dogs.

- We’d frequently hear of nearby farms having issues with their animals being born too mutated to survive or random outbreaks from contaminated water / food. Crops would randomly fail. People would get poisoned on a regular basis. This all got less common as I grew up.

- My mother still remembers being a little girl, 10 years old, and looking outside from their balcony at the clouds blowing over from Chernobyl that day. People were told to not go outside and to shut all the windows, but not given an explanation as to why. My mother swears that the rain looked different. They weren’t able to go and buy more food for the kitchen for multiple days.

Anyway - nuclear safety isn’t a joke. I don’t understand how this level of carelessness can happen after Chernobyl and Fukushima.

Ukraine invasion [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

The both-sideism here, akin to framing a burglary as 'a dispute over property', with the judge telling burglar and victim to just split it 50/50.

While I'm at it, calling it a "war" or a "conflict" is not helping. It began as an invasion and still is an invasion, with the invaded defending their home.

You know what I haven't learned to say in Spanish? F off…

“Spain has not come through, Spain has not been loyal to NATO,” Trump said from the White House... Trump added, “I think Spain should be reprimanded for that. … But that’s up to NATO and Spain.”

¿Qué dirías tú, ciudadanos de España? :D

Muchas gracias!

In recent days, had shown an openness to selling long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, even as warned that such a move would further strain the relationship.

But following Thursday’s call with Putin, Trump appeared to downplay the prospects of Ukraine getting the missiles, which have a range of about 995 miles.

“We need Tomahawks for the United States of America too,” Trump said. “We have a lot of them, but we need them. I mean we can’t deplete our country.”

Why does the BBC allow obvious sock puppet accounts to comment on their articles? Seems very strange. What analysis do they do as it would be trivial to show these patterns in user comments whenever ukraine war is mentioned…

#Russia started deploying a new attack tactics on #Ukraine military units - in #Mikolaiv unknown perpetrators offered a woman with a child large amount of money for “delivering a package to soldiers”.

She was expected to leave the package to soldiers and then leave, confirming delivery by messaging an agreed number. When she only approached the soldiers the package exploded, killing herself and three soldiers from mine disposal unit. The bomb was of course remotely controlled and the woman was from the beginning planned to be killed. She left a young child in a hotel where she stayed.

If that scenario sounds a bit familiar it’s because it is, that’s precisely one of the methods ISIS employed.
